Tepoztlán is a charming town in Morelos, Mexico, renowned for its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and well-preserved colonial architecture. Surrounded by mountains, it features the ancient Tepozteco Pyramid, sitiated on top of the Tepozteco Mountain, which offers breathtaking views. The town is vibrant with local markets, arts festivals, and a spiritual atmosphere.
Bring cash. Most tolls, entrance fees to tourist sites, and food stalls only accept cash.
Hike up Tepozteco Mountain on Sunday. It’s a medium to advanced-level hike that takes a total of about 1.5 hours both ways. To get into the pyramid on the top, you’ll need to pay $100MXN ($5USD) cash.
Stroll down the main street of Tepoztlán, «Calle del Tepozteco.» It’s filled with local shops selling Mexican crafts, delicious drinks, and food.
Don’t miss trying “Tepoz Nieves,” delicious traditional ice creams.
Enjoy Cecina de Yecaplixta and chilaquiles, which are a must-try.
Drink lots and lots of micheladas and mojitos. You can walk around with your drink in hand.
